Castillo
Moncada was a
Spanish cargo steamer with 1800 tons
built in 1914 which
ran aground and was wrecked
2nm East of Sagres on the
16th March 1951. Laden with esparto, and due to bad weather, she hit the hidden
rocks in the shallows near the tip of Railways, near Sagres. The ship broke in
two, making the recovery impossible.
