Nordsøen, built by Burmeister & Wain, Copenhagen in 1901
and owned at the time of her loss by M. Nielsen & Søn, Copenhagen, was a
Danish steamer of 1055 tons.On April 24th, 1917, Nordsøen, on a voyage from
Bergen to Genoa with a cargo of herring in barrels, was scuttled by the German
submarine U-35 (Lothar von Arnauld de la Perière), 2 miles east of Punta de
Sagres, off Cabo de Sao Vicente. There were no casualties.
